Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate is all set to take up a new job as a BBC presenter. The job opportunity comes to Southgate more than a year after he left the role with the Three Lions. In between, the 54-year-old has been linked to several clubs, but he chose to stay away from the touchline.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  According to , Southgate will join the BBC to host a new podcast-style show called 'One Of A Kind', where the ex-England boss will interview successful leaders and ­winners from industry. The 54-year-old will be paid around £50,000 in his new job.

  Sources close to The Sun revealed: "The Beeb are excited to have landed Gareth in what will be his first hosting role. It’s a real coup. He’ll be interviewing successful people from different spheres of industry, moving away from sport into mainstream inspirational stories. Gareth is a philosophical man and producers think he’ll be great at having in-depth chats with interview subjects. He’ll be peeling back the layers to reveal fascinating insights into his experiences. The series is being created for BBC Sounds, but it will be videoed and if successful could end up on the telly or iPlayer. It’s a really exciting new avenue for Gareth."

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Southgate was linked with the Poland national team job last month after Michal Probierz resigned following a bitter feud with captain Robert Lewandowski. Reports suggested the Polish Football Association eventually snubbed the ex-Middlesbrough player but he later dismissed that speculation.

  WHAT NEXT FOR SOUTHGATE?

  It's unclear whether Southgate would return to football management in the future if an attractive offer crops up. The ex-Three Lions boss said in a recent interview: "You can't say never to anything because 15 years ago I left Middlesbrough and I wasn't certain I would manage then. Then I ended up on a strange path into managing the national team. But it's not something I'm actively looking at at the moment."
