Manchester United are ‘negotiating personal terms’ with Auxerre and Mali star Lassine Sinayoko, who will be out of contract in the summer of 2026.
Amorim proud of resolute Man Utd win against Newcastle
Patrick Dorgu’s superb 24th-minute volley was a worthy winner of a game but United spent most of the second half defending as Newcastle had 16 attempts at goal on Friday while United had just 33.4 per cent possession, their lowest in the league this season.
This was United’s first clean sheet in ten games, with the last coming on Senne Lammens’ debut in the 2-0 win over Sunderland on October 4.
Amorim has already seen his side take wins over Liverpool and Chelsea this season but, when asked if the manner of this one made it one of his most satisfying at the club, he agreed.
“Especially if you see the second half,” he said. “We managed to defend sometimes with a back six but we suffer together and that is a good feeling.
“If we have always this spirit we are going to win so many games. I think it is something we need to feel, that we can win sometimes without playing so well, we can win games with the spirit and with a togetherness in the team.”
The Portuguese manager is expected to be backed by INEOS in the upcoming transfer windows, with United’s need for midfield and attacking reinforcements made clear by the options on his substitutes bench on Friday.
Man Utd in talks with Sinayoko over pre-contract agreement
Amorim’s limited options against the Magpies meant bringing on teenager Jack Fletcher and the out of favour Joshua Zirkzee for some nervy final moments.
And according to Africa Foot via Sport Witness, the Premier League club are ‘progressing favourably’ towards a ‘final agreement’ with Auxerre star Sinayoko, who has scored six times in Ligue 1 this season.
INEOS are hoping to finalise a deal in January that would see the versatile attacker join as a free agent in the summer for a salary of €3m (£2.6m) per year.

Capable of playing in midfield, behind the striker, on the wing or even up front, the 26 year-old could partially fill the void left by Bruno Fernandes if the skipper departs in the summer.
Fernandes has been linked with a move to the Middle East and recently admitted the Red Devils tried to sell him in the summer, opening the door for an exit in the near future.
Man Utd can bin Bruno by signing £100m star who's "a bit of Keane & Scholes"
The fear is creeping in – Manchester United may have to replace Bruno Fernandes before too long.

Sinayoko is currently away at AFCON with Mali, for whom he has scored their only two goals of the tournament so far, meaning he has now scored in four straight for club and country.
